Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 am–5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. This was my first visit to the office, with a 3:00 PM appointment. I arrived early and was promptly taken back by a very kind hygienist. Unfortunately, the X-ray machine malfunctioned, causing a delay. After about 10 minutes, it was decided I would switch rooms to complete the X-rays after measurements were taken. By 3:55 PM, everything was done, and I was told the doctor would be in shortly. After waiting another 45 minutes with no update, I stepped into the hallway to ask how much longer. I was told the doctor had been delayed. When she finally arrived, she admitted she hadn’t reviewed my chart and, when I asked if this was typical for new patients, she told me I should find a different office. She called my question confrontational and walked me out β€” where I still had to pay for the x-rays. If you value your time and expect professionalism and courtesy, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Recommendation: I would say that clear and timely communication with patients is essential, mainly when delays occur. A brief update or acknowledgment during the wait would have demonstrated respect for the patient's time. If that is not feasible, a courteous apology from the doctor upon

The office staff is great. Jordan and Jill explained the insurance and billing quite well. Cindy was amiable and professional, as was Dr. Houk, who took a lot of time explaining things. All were professional and courteous. I can recommend them without reservation. I hope I got all the names right!

Awful experience I was left waiting in the chair for almost an hour for the Dr to come in. I finally got up to inquire if they forgot about me. A couple of minutes later the Dr came in ( I think they pulled her away from another patient) She wasn’t very pleasant and did her exam. She then asked me if I wanted to move forward with her option for me. I said I wanted to think about it. She then proceeded to tell me that it wasn’t worth her doing a treatment plan because I wanted to think about it. After that statement, my mind was definitely made up. No thank you. The front desk staff was very nice.

Dr Houk is an efficient, personable, professional doctor. Her assistants and staff are approachable. They give the impression of caring for their patients. It is commendable that time in outer waiting room has now been shortened to 15 minutes.

Called back early, so I had practically no wait time. Valerie's service was outstanding. It was the first time I've had x-rays taken to ensure all the plaque and calculus had been removed. She was very thorough. I left motivated to try to improve my oral hygiene.

Great experience overall. As is often the case with dental issues, the urgency my initial consultation & the follow-up procedure changed. They accommodated both of the changes with little effort on my part. This ties into the main reason I give them 5 stars: In these medical situations I notice myself and others developing a "pressure of speech" in which a patient tends to try to explain their situation as quickly as possible with pertinent details while most doctors/staff tend to not be terribly interested or able to listen. That was not the case here. Dr. Houk and ALL of the staff were incredibly kind. They were quick and efficient, but not dismissive. They were concise and patient, without making one feel rushed. I haven't had particularly good or very bad experiences when it's come to dealing doctor's offices, but after visiting them (medical, dental, etc.) they often leave much to be desired. And the events leading up to my visit here left a lot to be desired. However, after visiting Dr. Houk and experiencing how her practice is run, and interacting with her staff, it is a friendly reminder of what all of these experiences could & should be like. Incredibly helpful, friendly,

Update: Though I had an amazing experience, I was unexpectedly sent a $1,400 bill eight months after the procedure, and it feels like no one in the office is actively working to resolve it with insurance. Dr. Valorie was incredibleβ€”gentle, professional, and attentive. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. Highly recommendβ€”10/10!
